As the forum keeps exceeding its storage limit for pictures and the only way to free up space is to deleat existing pictures, it would be better if people uploaded there images to a photo sharing site eg photobucket, imageshack, etc. and link to the pictures. I have copied this from the ProBoards help site explaing how to do it.
This article will let you know how to link an image from a 3rd party hosting provider, from services like Photobucket, imgur, ImageShack, and etc. If you do not have an account with a picture hosting provider it is very easy to set one up.
To link directly to an image hosted elsewhere, you'll first need to get the direct URL to the image you want to embed within your post. Direct URL's will end with the file format of the image, such as .jpg, .png, .gif, and etc. Often times you can locate the direct URL of an image from the share options when viewing the image on the hosting service. An example of a direct image URL would be something like: i.imgur.com/tHtwFXm.gif
Once you have the direct URL of an image you would like to insert into a post, click the Reply button to an existing thread on the forum, or create a new thread to bring up the posting page. On the posting page click on the image button found in the toolbar directly above the message area. Once clicked a pop-up window will display asking you for the Image URL, along with the Alt Text. Paste in the direct URL for the image you want to share within your post into the box provided for the Image URL option. The text you enter in the Alt Text field is what will display in your post any time the image itself is unable to load, either because the visitor has images disabled in their web browser or if your image hosting provider is having technical issues and is unable to load the image.
Once you have the Image URL and Alt Text filled out, click on the Insert Image button found at the bottom of the pop-up window and you should see a reference to your image appear in the message area of your post. Once your post is made, the image will display directly in your message.
I hope this helps. Richard

Let me condense Proboards instructions as they are rather long-winded. I fell asleep before the end
1. Post your image(s) on a free image sharing site. 2. "Copy" the url of your photo from that site. 3. "Paste" it into your posting on this site. 4. Job done!
Hope that helps Phil Admin

There's a thread on Retro Rides (another pro boards forum) which has some very helpful tips about how to upload pictures onto web forums. What I like about the thread is that it has pictures. If I could figure out how to take a screenshot, I'd put a similar thread up. Here's the link to the Retro Rides thread - retrorides.proboards.com/thread/34126/post-pictures-on-forum

How to post pics guide....... How to post pics: A simple guideStep 1: Hosting your picturesFirst you need to host pics, or have them online already. Hosting your own pics can be done at a number of sites. I use www.photobucket.comThere are some restrictions on storage qty and bandwidth use but it’s never been a problem to me and a gig of storage is a lot of pictures - photo's for forum use want to be around 300mb or less When I wrote this guide I intended it to be a general how to rather than a specific guide for photobucket but the priciples are the same for most and if you have problems just shout on the forum and someone will be able to help The following is a list of other possible hosts and can be quite useful but I only have a very small amount of experience using the alternatives listed below: Free ones (may have limited facilities) www.photobucket.comwww.tinypic.comwww.photobox.co.ukwww.imagestation.com (Closes 1st Feb 2008) Subscription required www.fototime.comwww.geocities.comwww.tripod.comwww.angelfire.comSo the first step is to join Photobucket or similarOnce joined and logged in – either create an album if you like to keep photos of different cars or events separate or have a nice big simple bucket Right now you can add pictures Select directory Select the image you want to upload from your PC Folder If it’s just one image click on the upload button and let it do it's stuff or keep adding images until you reach the limit of 20 then click upload Depending on number of images you will soon get confirmation of upload One note of caution is that photobucket can do bulk uploads of much larger numbers than 20 – ie a complete folder of pics but I’ve had issues with this process (might just be me tho!!!) When it's completed you will have a thumbnail to pic (or if you’ve loaded several images a page full of thumbnails Anyway back to linking to the pictures now hosted Step 2: Inserting pics into your postClick on the bottom section for forum links and the properties in the box will be automatically copied. Finally, go back to the forum and in a reply to a post or a new thread put the image properties in the post where you want the picture to be either by using CTRL + V or right-click, paste. It should look like this: And will result in this: There you go.........

Looks good and it provides the picture directly in the blog. However it does seem rather complex for those amongst us that are not so IT savvy. Using Dropbox to store and secure your files and photos offers a means of placing a file in a public folder, copying a link on the file then pasting the link in the blog. The any readers only have to click the link and the photo is there for them. No blog space used, easy access and easy posting. Works for me. As for cost. I don't think there are costs associated with a basic account.

Having to click on a link that takes me off to another website is an utter pain - it completely disrupts the flow of the narrative in the post. As with Dropbox, there are no costs associated with a photo bucket account.

I'm using it from my mobile phone and once I click the chain link it just comes up with four options to choose from and the bottom option says ,img (for forums & boards) and then displays the URL for that picture it's made very easy on the mobile version ,I just use my phones Wi - Fi because I don't own a computer
