Hi I`m new to this club and have registered because I intend to purchase a Standard 10. I`m currently looking at a 1956 "super10" and wondered if any-one could point me in the direction of what to look for in the way of weaknesses. You comments would be apreciated.
I have recently finished the restoration of a small Fiat and would like to restore a Standard 10......I passed my driving test in one.

Hi DebCab
Excellent advice, to read the guide. I wish I'd looked at it before I bought.
Mind you, I might not have had so much fun if I had. As you probably found with your Fiat, you will end up 'discovering' car during the work you do on it. I started totally from scratch with Bertie. I was lucky enough to see there was very little real work to be done on the body other than respray and a tiny bit of welding. I was told all the mechanical work had been done and only cosmetics was remaining. Oh how wrong. I've had to check & redo all mechanical bits throughout. steering box & linkages, front & rear suspension, carb, engine, ignition, gearbox, driveshaft, brakes, tyres, wheels, wipers, windows, lights. I don't see this as a down side. I've learned about the car and trust how its put together. It takes time and patience, but you'll know that.
My suggestion would be to use this forum heavily for advise a sharing information. the folk on here are really good at helping.
Looking forward to seeing you about
Mark
