Hello guys I got a standard 4 I got from my father in law the engine is in boxes and have no floorboard so is need of a lot of work I am originally from Venezuela in South America and has been leaving here for last 11 years, so I want to do this car up in memory of my father in law but I don't know much about this cars, if is worth it ? If I can do a better upgrade like a modern engine, suspension, power steering or is definitely worth more original, my plan is to keep it but if any eventuality have the option to sell it and don't get out of pocket, thanks in advance for any help and advice

As there is no reply yet, I will step in. First, what year is the car? Can you post a picture or two? You are not going to retire off the proceeds of selling any Standard car, but some are worth more than others. In general, originality is worth more than "upgrades", but some things like electronic ignition will increase reliability, without detracting from originality, and are easily reversable. Major changes to engines, brakes or suspension can and usually are viewed with suspicion by prospective buyers.

Open a free Photobucket account, open the photo in Photobucket, use the "IMG" link, and copy paste the link into a post. Put the chassis number up here "commission number", and someone will be able to translate that into the year of manufacture.

More detailed pics would be needed to give evan a ballpark value, also the build date. To put it into perspective, just pre and just post war cars are going in the club magazine for £300 to £3000 for projects, and a max of £6000 ish for "perfect, ready to go" cars

If its a 4/8A it is post war built between 1945 and 1948 and the pictures appear to confirm that as I can not see any louvres in the bonnet. When you have the commission number we will be able to date it more accurately. Richard

Why not copy paste the IMG code for each picture onto your thread then the photos will appear on here?
