Ok, so I know nothing at all about these cars but my neighbour has a Light Six Standard Car in her barn. It is in a pretty desperate state but maybe someone would like it for spares, cannibalisation and so on. If she cannot find anyone who is interested then it goes to the scrap dealer, which might seem a pity. There are photos and contact details on www.webkraft.de/avonThanks.

Of course I will stand to be corrected, but this is a very rare variant and cannot, just cannot, be allowed to be broken up cannabalised or whatever. As I see it it is a March 1931 ( Northamptonshire ) registered Avon bodied Standard 16hp. Anyone needing to take their shoes, as well as gloves off, to count the survivors. Doubt it! The suppliers badge - Pass & Joyce of Orchard Street just of Oxford Street W1 - dealers in a number of prestigious marques and a particular liking for special bodied cars. It would have been nice and comparatively expensive in its time. I will not mention 16 hp engines!! Please, please ensure this car gets whatever promoting it needs to find a good home, but ensure its a home where the car as a whole becomes a protected species.

Has the club got any members in Germany that could be informed about this? Not every member is likely to see it on the forum.

Just to keep the thread in order - I have emailed a reply to Darrel Cunningham saying ::
"Further to your posted comment asking for your email address to be passed on. It is a neighbour of mine that owns the above car. It has sat in her barn for a few years and she doesn’t know what to do with it. I rather took over things when she mentioned contacting the scrap merchant!
Unfortunately she doesn’t have email, but it is no trouble for me to act as a go between. I have persuaded her that it should go to someone / an organisation that can in some way preserve it and she now agrees with me. However she has no idea how to manage it. If you have any suggestions then I am sure that she would be happy to hear from you.
Should anyone want to know, she lives in a village by the name of Merlau in Hessen, Germany. (I could pass her phone number on to you but she does not speak English)."

I think there's probably quite a lot of value in the car. I suspect it might get a fair bit of attention in the right auction in the UK - particularly given that it has a coach built body.

On behalf of the Standard Motor Club I am trying to make arrangements to save this car. If it went in an open auction it will get broken up for spares as many in the past have.

Light Six refers to the Standard chassis model name on which the Avon bodywork was mounted. Avon Swan Coupe is the body style.

I found the thread and have some more information on the Standard Avon 16hp - RP 9603. It was written about this car.

I have been restoring the Standard since October 2015. Unfortunately, the radiator and the front mask were missing from the car. In 2016, I have received information from the club member Peter that the radiator of the saloon has been changed.
Two years ago I have received a radiator from a saloon. Does anyone have the data on how to change the radiator?

Can’t help you, but it’s great to see some pictures. Why don’t you start a build thread?
