Johndoc:
I have looked around your Standard Motor Club Forum since posting my original request. From a number of the threads, I understand, maybe mistakenly, that a great deal of information seems to exist about the early Standards and their ownership. Admitting that I do not own the Standard 9hp that is the subject of my thread, nor do I have any reason at present to believe it still exists, are you aware of early (1920s & 1930s) ownership records for Standards shipped to or manufactured in Australia? I seriously doubt that except in the rarest of cases that I could locate such records in the USA.

There are two Facebook sites that you could also try- one official Standard Motor Club Group, and the other is Standard Motor Company. Also have a look at the Clubs website, as distinct from the Forum. Start on this page, but there is a wealth of knowledge there, you just have to dig a bit- www.standardmotorclub.org.uk/page509.html

I have received a reply and photo from a contributor on the RootsWeb Forum that bears on this thread. (Input I received on the RootsWeb Forum was what led me to this Forum.) I have pasted a link to that RootsWeb post. The auto pictured is said to be an English 1931 Standard 9hp. This auto is very similar to the one in my photo with some differences but it does have a boat tail. Some other differences are noted in the post and I believe looking at the rear end body overhang that the auto in my photo (above) has a longer frame that the one in the attached post. By the way, I believe the person who posted the response is an Australian. www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=726054.msg5713792#msg5713792

I cant find it at the moment, but that picture appears somewhere on the clubs website, I belive credited to Phil Homer. Significantly different cabin to your mystery car though. UPDATE- found the page- bottom picture on this page- www.standardmotorclub.org.uk/page808.htmlNote that that is an Avon bodied car- so the coachbuilt theory looks to be still the most likely.

Having already established this in not an Avon but is built by an Australian bodybuilder perhaps we can move on to try to identify who that was.
I am aware that bodys were built on Standards by no less than 16 Australian concerns.
I am aware of only the following companys - and I have published photos of most of these products on the Website when it was under my control i.e not in the last 2 years.
T J Richards Melbourne Motor Bodies James Flood Mortlock Brothers Damyon Brothers
The body in question does not look similar to any of these 5, so is likely to be one of the 11 others. Complete cars were restricted imports so The Australian Coachbuilding industry was huge as they imported chassis from most of the world's suppliers.
Unless someone can correct me, this industry has not been documented anywhere, so any further information that anyone can give is welcomed.

Thanks, Peter.
I have sent an email inquiring about the book along with photos of the Standard 9 which is the object of my search. My hope is that the book will provide additional information on the coach builders involved with that car. Thanks, again. I will post what I learn here.

I am continuing to explore the newspapers and other sources for information on the Standard 9 two seater. I would like to thank all who contributed to thus thread and my education in he use of this SMC Forum. I have just received a very nice, newly published book from Australia titled "Standard Cars in Australia 1907 - 1940". The book was written and published by Mr. Warwick Budd, NSW, Australia. The book has paper covers and is about 8.25 x 11 inches with 160 or so pages. It is printed on glossy paper so the quality of the photos and other reproductions are excellent. I have no relationship with Mr. Budd other than being a customer. Mr. Budd can be reached by email: Please contact me in personal messages. Thanks again, Kent Ryan

I seem to have flubbed the email link post. If so:
Warwick Budd's email address has been removed.
If you are interested in the Australian Standard Car book above, please contact me in personal messages.
