Hallo, Having jumped through millions of hoops is the Standard Motor Club there? I`m interested to know what information the Standard Motor Club has about single anchor type Bendix Brakes...or even just to speak to a human being. Any response would be very gratefully received Cheers muddy1

Hello Muddy1, The club should have copy of the first class minor publication on Bendix brake setting up by the late Ted Broadhurst. Effectively, start by disconnecting all the cables, remove the drums to check serviceability of everything in there and adjust each wheel to fully locked. Ensure there is a minimum of free play at the pedal end before reconnecting each cable in turn so that they just connect with a little difficulty. Now slacken at wheels and make final adjustments to ensure balanced braking. Well it's something like that! - from memory! But no doubt someone will correct this if necessary. Good luck.

The Club published a booklet some while ago on the subject and a CD-Rom was available too. If you are a member either of those would be a worthwhile purchase.

Gentlemen, Thank you all very much for your help. It will take a little time to try what you've told me, but at least I will now tackle the job with some understanding of what I`m doing and why. Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get on Regards muddy1

Sorry about that Muddy
I didn't realise it was copyrighted
Mind you it does suggest you can obtain the document via the club services. Might be a cost involved and you need to be a member
Hope it all works out for you
