Hi everyone, Im new to the forum and club and am looking at buying a standard. I absolutely love the looks and lines of a Standard 10 (Vintage) and am interested in buying one in Plymouth but the seller is being a bit odd? So out of interest does anybody recognise this car and its history? Is it genuine? Was it in the club? Its currently in primer but looks like the original colour was a light grey. Looking forward to your replies.

its a 1934 Standard 10/12, that's a 10 chassis with 12 engine. It might have twin carbs? If you tell me the registration number or failing that the commission number I can tell you what the club knows about it.

The question on my mind is, is it a 34 10/12 that's been hacked around a bit, or a 34 10 that someone has attempted to turn into a 10/12. Either way you are looking at a car that's had a lot of modification. You need to get some straight answers from the seller.
As Phil says, the commission number, which is on the plate on the bulkhead in the last photo, will let you know for sure.
From my experience it looks like the body and gearbox are 34 or very early 35
It has a 12HP engine fitted. The block and water pump look like they are from a slightly later 12, The head looks to be aluminium (10/12ish)and thermostat housing looks looks correct for 34. However the single horizontal carb is like a run of the mill 10 or 12 from 34 or 35. As Phil suggests, the 10/12 would have had twin carbs. The steering wheel looks like it has been repaired and the lighting switch has been moved to the dash The wiring loom is absent. The sliding roof has been covered over and the drain holes blocked/welded up The running boards are not original I see from other pics of the car on line that oddness has gone on in the boot/petrol tank area too etc. etc.
Let us know how you get on.
