Looks a lot better. Are the old messages coming on this edition or do we have to re-entry them?

Hi Phil, I don't know if my last message got to you or not, because my computer has been on the fritz.......
More on the 1932 Avon Roadster and Fordor Sedan, my couisin and I are interested in.... The Avon's Eng # is 153303 and the Chasis # is 153474. The car has it's original English Lic. Plate # Mark WJ5380 ! The 1932 Sedan' Eng# 150537 and it's Chasis# 150484. Unfortunately, it's Lin Plate is missing. Both cars have wire wheels, the Avon has knock-offs and I'm not sure about the sedan since it has hub caps showing in the pics.
I hope you or someone in the club can help identify these cars to find out when in 1932 they were built and if the bodys are special, Etc. We also want to know what hp each probably has, I suspect both are 8hp but you probably know from the engine numbers.
Phil, I was wondering, The Standard Motor Co. buiilt many different models of cars, but didn't someone register the engineering drawings with some branch of the gov't like we have the U.S. Patent Office or the National Archieves???
Anyway, please let us know about these two cars.
Sincerely, Shane York

I can give some information from my files, and perhaps Phil can expand on it. The Chassis number 150484 is approx. July 1932. It is a 1006cc engine of 9hp. The other car 153474 is approx. December 1932. Again 1006cc and of 9hp. It would appear that a letter "A" was not added to the chassis number for Avons until 1935. As all Avons were hand built, although the chassis and engine would have been built at the time stated it is possible the finished cars were not released until a month or two later for sale. The WJ registration does put the car as registered in Yorkshire/Lancashire area of the UK. Both these cars would have been built on what was called the Little Nine chassis. Regards Ian.

This is a reply to fokus.
Please start new threads for new topics, otherwise everything gets jumbled up!
I'm sorry, I don't have the time to repost everything on the new board, but you can if you wish. Hopefully the new board will soon have lots of new entries anyway
Regards,
Admin

This is a reply to Shane York.
Please start a new thread for different topics or replies get jumbled up, like this one
It seems like you have as much or more information about these cars as I have, since I am the webmaster not an authority on Avons.
Please send me photos by email, and I will confirm what your cars are.
Look forward to hearing from you
I have locked this thread now so everyone will need to start a new thread
Kind regards,
