I hope we will see a few members at the above event at Stoneleigh Park near Kenilworth Warwickshire. We have a display of 6 cars including a 1944 Flying Standard based Tilly, the only known active twin cargo door Companion in the UK together with Vanguard phase 1A and Vignale estates to keep it company,a 1930 Fabric Bodied Teignmouth and a 1947 4/8A. Regalia will be on sale on the Club stand and we are promised a huge autojumble. Peter Lockley

Hoping to be able to shuffle stuff around and get there, mainly for the autojumble. It will be my first time hunting for Standard 10 bits.....I've been spoilt over the last few years rebuilding a VW, there are so many specialists and marque specific events, it's a bit like shopping for groceries in Sainsburys - everything's (pretty much) available.
I imagine that's not going to be the case for stuff that's unique to the Standard - going to have to look a bit harder I'm guessing?

Yes, I'm a member and I've been through the webshop, but there are a bunch of bits I'm after that the club doesn't carry.

It's a longish list, and some of the bits I'm looking for might take a bit of searching out. New old stock nearside outer sill, front passenger seat or the right cloth/vinyl to repair the back of the one I've got, radio mounting panel, a pair of boot handles better than the ones I've got, a roof visor, Spitfire III cam, Herald caliper brackets and type 14 calipers, late gearbox and propshaft, and a new headliner.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not being at all critical of the club shop in any of the above commentary.

Ahh the vinyl to match door trims and seats is difficult, still haven't found the right one for my door trim and finding a company the does the weald seem weld tram lines within the trim to keep it original is also proving very difficult, the radio panel and a roof sun visor too, but otherwise the shop seem to be quite good!

As a Club we've supported this show since it was founded by the Batemans in the 1990s.Consequently many autojumblers with rare Stanpart bits bring them to the show. There is no telling what you may find.Come and visit us on the Club stand and make yourself known. Peter Lockley

Just got back and to be honest didn't see the club stand. where was it? Unless there was more than one hall. I saw no indication there was. I was looking forward to seeing the club regalia.
Perhaps I'm going blind in my old age

Perhaps I'm going blind in my old age Mark I think there were three if not four halls. I got there before opening and got out at about 11.30 - had to be elsewhere this afternoon. The club stand had some nice stuff on it. Particularly liked the big and small estate, but car of the show for me would be the custom 'woody' Vanguard estate. Fabulous thing.

With all the effort that went into the Club stand in getting 6 very rare and interesting club cars to the show, all as outlined above, with owners happy and willing to bring them out and return them home in adverse weather conditions,I am gobsmacked that Mark didn't find us and didn't look at the Show Guide being given away free at the entrance or ask someone where we were.If he'd reached hall 3 we had a large banner and lots of signs advertising our presence. Admittedly it was a huge Show and there was a lot of walking involved but any Club member is always welcome to take a rest on the Club stand at any event and many do so. We were in the main club display area with several other major Standard Triumph clubs in the same area as well as some MG clubs.Though perhaps slightly outnumbered by MG specialists there were plenty of Standard Triumph auto jumblers at the show and even the MG auto jumblers had plenty of parts compatible with Standards. There was a lot of auto jumble in hall 3 where we were so presumably Mark missed that as well. I'm sure Eternal Optimist would have found at least some of the parts he needed somewhere at the show. Could I thank everyone who brought cars (and the Tilly) to the event and helped out on the stand . Thanks also to all the members who dropped in to see us. I hope everyone enjoyed the Show.I certainly did. Peter Lockley

.....I'm sure Eternal Optimist would have found at least some of the parts he needed somewhere at the show... Thanks - I found a few interesting bits, some were on the list, and as usual, I bought some stuff that wasn't. There was far more than I could properly search through in the two hours I gave myself.

Thanks - I found a few interesting bits, some were on the list, and as usual, I bought some stuff that wasn't. There was far more than I could properly search through in the two hours I gave myself. I spent 6.5 hours at the show and only reached hall 3 at about 2.45pm, and did not get to hall 4 at all. If anything there was too much to see in the time available (9.30am to 4pm).I wonder if it is in the best interest of the owners to have both MG and Triumph in one show. I would think the organisers will be happy with the numbers, but those who were in traffic queues for an hour or so may think different, and of course the effect in the halls was walking twice as far as normal. I would prefer Standard- Triumph as one show and MG separate. The Club stand was a superb variety from all age groups from 1929 to 1961.(The cars that is)Well done. Regards Ian.
