I'm not entirely sure this will be 'sanctioned' by the SMC. However, as there appear no other proposed activities for the West Midlands area....
I am leading a DRIVE IT DAY road run taking in part of the Severn Valley, including a brief stop to see the Severn Valley Railway and a breakfast (pay for your own).
This will be a 50 mile round trip from the Old Wagon & Horses, Stourbridge Rd, Kidderminster, taking in Kidderminster, Stourport, Bewdley, Bridgenorth, Kinver, Stourbridge and back.
We start our engines at 9am on Sunday 24th April 2016 , so if you fancy joining us with a road worthy classic of your choice, please be there beforehand so we can all go on time. We do need to be back for the "New Unnamed Classic Car Group" DRIVE IT DAY gathering at The Old Wagon & Horses. There are expected to be around 60-80 classic cars of all marques on display by lunchtime.

To be fair Phil, I'm doing it because no one else is. Well, and 'cos I enjoy seeing folks faces when they enjoy themselves.
The drivers asked me "when's the next one" following the success of the Worcestershire boundary tour.
I have several car clubs interested. Primarily the Black Country Classic Car Club and the New Unnamed Classic Car Group. the one I'd really like to get involved is this one. But alas, I think that might be a long time coming. I do know a group from the Morris Register is interested.
Lets hope it too goes well.

Anyone can volunteer to organise an event involving Club cars, and as there is no other West Midlands Drive It Day event, you are more than welcome to organise this one Mark. Its too late to get in a "Standard Car Review" or course but you could ask the Webmaster to give you a page asvert and please advise the Secretary as you will then be covered by the Club's public liability insurance.
Have a great day

I don't mind organising Phil. Especially as it benefits me in doing social road run too.
I'd be happy to have PL Insurance for the day. However as Bertie is currently the only Standard involved at this time I think the club might take umbrage at covering liability insurance for one standard and maybe 20 other marques.
The only reason I'm advertising it is to see if ANYONE might be interested.
I will start doing runs further afield. then Ill ask if any other groups are interested

Well done Mark.Let's hope Standard owners in the W.Midlands are more enthusiastic than they have been in the past. The last time Steve O'Hara organised a really nice run 3 or 4 years ago only 3 cars turned up,Steve in his Teignmouth, myself in my 8 and Ray and Di Ferris who supported your Worcestershire Boundary Tour. Let's hope more people support your efforts this year. I'm going with my Vanguard estate on the Midland Vehicle Preservation Society Run to a rural and car museum near Mountsorrel in Leicestershire and then on to the Great Central Railway nearby. Let's hope lots of Standards around the country turn out on the day . Our cars are meant to be driven and I've never understood why so many people in the Club seem to think that bringing out their cars is such a major event . The weekend after Drive It Day I'll be driving my 8 from Warwickshire to Mundesley on the N.Norfolk coast for the Club's E.Anglian Run.At least I understand from the organisers that that is well supported but even then we are lucky to see more than a handful of cars local to the Run.Details are on the website and in the Review so if any E.Anglian owners wish to join us get in touch with the organisers.
