I am upgrading it to a 1300 engine and disk brakes.
Once it's complete I intend to do quite a few long distance trips in it.
Having completed the RBRR 3 times in my Stag I decided to set myself a bit of a challenge.
My Grandfather had a Standard Super 10 bought new in the late 50's so decided that would be my car of choice.
I have followed your advice and sourced some LED reflector lights for the rear, they are a perfect fit.

Totally understand why your upgrading it. However mine is as original as it can be so is a very different drive and has significantly more issues driving as far as a JoGLE Never the less would be good to see your on the road. Roll on

If your doing more powerful engine and disc brakes to compensate you might want to consider the steering upgrade to rack and pinion too. Might as well make it a herald with a ten body.. haha! I kid. Already done that and have fitted an Escort Mk1 rack. This should be the only non Stanpart item on the car.
This took some sorting but with assistance from the forum has worked out fine.
Bump steer issues did arise as some predicted but these have now been overcome.
Currently concentrating on replacing the rear leaf springs and routing a twin tail pipe exhaust up and over the axle.
And fitting an anti roll bar at the front. The pics you sent me proving very helpful.
As you said a Herald/Spitfire in a Ten body
Should be fun when it's finished

Back to the original thread.
Tony. Me and a few friends should (if all goes well) be driving past your place on Friday 7th July (South on the M5) and then again Sunday 9th July (North through Bath) during Southern part of the LEJoG. Really sadly it looks like I'm the only one who is intent on doing the tougher Northern Section. Partly due to length of the trip and partly due to cost I suspect. But whey Hey that is about the norm for these things in my experience.

Been a while since I put anything on this page.
Just thought i'd le you know we are still on for this although sadly it appears one of our team is unlikely to make it due to being diagnosed with a severe life limiting illness. Bit of a blow, and to be fair it has hurt us all. However we have determined we will still push ahead.
As it stands right now the cars expected to make the trip are: My 1956 Standard Ten (Bertie), 1965 Riley Elf, 1965 Bond Equipe, 1953 Triumph Renown, 1959 Austin Healey 3000 Mk1, 1860 Riley One-Point-Five and a 1969 Wolesley 1300 (if its rebuild goes to schedule).
It is possible we could be joined by others but can't be sure at this time.
Our route has changed slightly. We now intend to drive direct to Chiverton Cross nr. Truro on the first day (185 miles) via the M5 and A38. Day 2 (Saturday 8th July) we call in for a photo stop at Lands End before visitors get access so should be clear by 10:30ish. We then make our way up and across country to Honiton, via Dartmoor , Day 3 (9th July) we go via Glastonbury, Wells, Bath, Stroud, Cheltenham, Worcester and Home to Stourbridge. Cars are looking good at this moment, so fingers are still crossed.
Give us a wave as you see us pass by
M
