We're not a million miles away. We live between Barnsley and Wakefield (just off M1).
My partner and I bought our first Standard just 2 weeks ago.

Likewise, hello!
We are gradually getting to know our Standard. He managed a 160 mile return journey this weekend without a hitch (not that we intend to put that many miles on him in the future). He's probably never driven that far in his life (as he's only done 7500 miles in 78 years).
As a precaution, he's booked in next week to our local garage for i) a full oiling/greasing to make sure that we're up to date on the lubrication, ii) a new fan belt (old one is on its last legs) and iii) and MOT (for my own peace of mind.
Hopefully meet you all at one of the club runs at some stage!

Hi guys Carlos, did you say you had 3 flying 9s. I don’t suppose you have a cylinder head you would like to sell or trade. I have cracked mine. Blew a hose on the way to a show.
Looking forward to hearing from you Alan

Although I live ‘down south’ so I don’t get to drive it as much as I’d like, my ‘55 Standard lives in north Leicestershire at my parents’ house. It was in south Notts for many years until they moved just over the county border so I guess it just about qualifies.

There is an enthusistic Standard owner who lives in Sandiacre Nottingham, Robert Stewart. I met him at the Lincoln Transport festival last Sunday, he owns an Ensign de luxe as well as some Sunbeam Talbots. He runs a winter time monthly gathering at Ruddington Transport Heritage centre NG11 6NX on 1st Sunday of the month, 2nd Dec, 6th January, 3rd Feb, 3rd March, 7th April. Just turn up, even without your Standard if the weather is poor, he will be pleased to meet you.
