How much do you pay? and is it for SAE20/50 oil?
Just wondering. I visited a local farming outlet place the other day and found Morris Golden Film SAE w20/50 classic motor oil at £19 for 2 gallons. I've ordered a couple. Waiting for them to let me know when it was in. I did check and its not a mistake.
I have used Morris oils previously with no ill effects

The ZDDP levels are a little low for sliding tappet engines (allegedly at 700ppm as opposed to 1100/1200ppm but Morris is a respected brand in the old car world. Hope it works out for you, £9.50 a gallon is good value. Roger

Here is the Club's official response
I can confirm that the "Standard Motor Club" is still set up on the Opie Oils discount dropdown list and you can use it by quoting your membership number to obtain a 10% discount.

I’d be surprised if the Opie oils stayed are not great quality. It would not surprise me either that they may be even better for the engines than the Morris type. I suppose the question is how purist are you about your engine. I’ve used the morris oils for a couple of yrs now with no apparent ill affects so I’m happy with that.
Maybe I should add I use my cars a lot over long 600 mile tours several times a year.

I did say Morris are an old trusted brand and it was a cracking price - the link you provided gives access to oil at a price substantially cheaper than elsewhere for a branded oil- next time I need some oil I will check it out - so thank you. My comment about "hope it works out for you" was with respect to getting your order at that price, nothing to with the type/brand/quality of the oil at all - if I wasn't clear sorry! My comment about ZDDP was slightly "tongue in cheek" (hence the smiley), I only mentioned it as I know some car folk are getting obsessed by ZDDP levels in the oil if they have an engine with "sliding tappets". For those that don't know ZDDP was an additive developed in older oils to coat the surfaces of the cam lobes and cam followers (flat tappets) to reduce wear caused by the sliding/wiping action of the cam lobe of the tappet surface. It has been removed from more modern oils as the additive contaminates the Catalytic converters. To be honest given the relatively low mileages most classics do each year I personally don't regard it as a major issue. If you do a lot of miles and drive the car hard then maybe a worthwhile benefit. Opie oils are just a distributor of a range of oils (and other things), and have nothing close to Morris oil price. Their cheapest "quality" oil with ZDDP is Comma Classic at £23.69 (less 10% club discount) + postage for 5 litres. There are plenty of distributors as well, but as I say, next time I will have a good look at the link you provided Mark. Roger

Hi Roger.
So sorry. I didn't mean to cause confusion or offence to anyone.
I do appreciate what you said. All I thought I was doing was accepting there might, in some folks eyes, be a difference. Whereas in actual use there is very little, if any, in my own experience.
Mark

Wish I had realised the Opie discount when I got my barrel of GTX, and, the rust treatments and primers they also stock that I'm using on the Companion. I will remember them for the future.
