Hi all
Just thought I'd post a quick note about an item I purchased recently from the Club shop. I've been quick enough to point out when the service was not as expected so it seems perfectly fair to post to opposite too.
I recently purchased a top hose for my, one day to be on the road, Flying Eight Tourer. On arrival and examination I was concerned that the hose stated "reinforced" however I could not see any sign of reinforcement in the rubber moulding. I reported this to the club officials and asked why this might be. To be honest I did think there was something terribly wrong with the procurement of the hoses.
I got a very quick response from Peter Lockley and another club member with the following explanation...
"All hoses with R as a suffix have Kevlar but it is mixed in before the material is heated to become “rubber” and moulded. He probably thinks about old style hoses with a fabric lamination which over time de-laminates due to repeated heating and cooling in service."
Well done SMC for not only providing an excellent clarification, but also for providing a product that, because it is so flexible, is easily installed. Also, hopefully is has a longer life than the earlier type.
Thank you and Stay Happy
Mark

Nice bit of info Mark, thanks for passing it on. Glad you were happy with the service from the club. I really do think that the clubs spares service has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years and it is all down to the hard work of the committee and their band of helpers.
