£580 10s 10p That is £580.54 to the youngsters. That would include purchase tax at the time, car in single colour body with vynil (Tygan) seats. I have a book with all the answers, worth buying it! Just leave a message here. Regards Ian.

In 1956 a Standard Super Ten was £437 -10s and purchase tax was £220- 2s, totalling £657-12s. That includes two tone paint. So it went up over the 2 years from 1954. A calculator I have found on the Internet using the RPI says that was equivalent to a price of £11,000 in 2005, This was the cost of my Standard 10, TOH 157 to its first owner from P.J Evans in Birmingham on 27th April of that year. £310 was allowed in part exchange for a used Ford Anglia! Delivery cost an additional £1 - 10s, 4 gallons of petrol were put in the tank for 18s and 8 months roadtax was £8-15s. Regards, Phil
