Does anyone out there specially recommend an insurance company for my Flying 8? I expect it will only come out on high days and holidays. ( U.K.) I'd be grateful for advice. Thanks. Chris

Chris, I would try RH ( www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/) my premium for my Flying 9 was £63 comprehensive. This was far cheaper then NU. I believe Footman James would also be worth a try especially if you have multiple vehicles. Regards Steve

Chris, I agree with Steve but perhaps the club has or will look into this for us. I also have an Austin and membership of the Austin ten drivers club reduced my premium of £87.50 down to £60.90!

Hi All, I have been a supporter of RH for the last 4 years. However this year I asked Footman James for a quote and made it clear I was a SMC member (they ask for memb number) and they were far better. I phoned Peter Best and AON and two others who were far higher. I believe FJ lost a lot and under the new running they have become more competitive again. Footman are the approved SMC supplier and I am now back with them. Regards Ian.

Hi, Just thought I would add that all 3 of my classics are insured with Peter Best on the 'Eclesiastical policy', and all are £65 each, with full breakdown/recovery if required There is of-course a mileage limit in force of 3000 a year, which is not too much of a problem. Tina

Hello. FJ quoted £99 for both cars, (NOT EACH) fully comp, inc breakdown cover on both, no mileage limit. Depends on age, location and licence details of course. Situation is as I find regularly you have to shop around. If you make one price comparison each year it does keep you in touch, as does this forum. Regards Ian.

I agree with Ian, FJ are trying much harder presently. However, if yours is agreed value and European breakdown cover as well, then your deal is exceptional value. I'm not surprised you bit their hand off! Lets have more members give us their quotes to see if we can find any better, I doubt it.
Incidentally, the club does not have "approved" insurance suppliers. It is illegal. Oficially we recommend a comparison of FJ with any others, which is common sense anyway. We do however firmly approve of "agreed value" policies.
Phil
