I was just wondering how many of you guys run your cars on a daily basis.
I'm thinking of running my Phase1 daily i have a motorcycle I can ride sometimes to take the pressure of the car, but we all now how bad the winters can get!
iv been assured there are mechanical spares available for these cares and I'm happy to do the daily maintenance.
The plus side of running old cars is you keep the car in on the road condition the down side is they can deteriorate in our winter.
just thought I'd see how many of you guys run your cars daily?
regards Ronnie.

Bertie's will hopefully be on the road again thus week. I fully intend to use him regularly for local runs, while I'll have a modern car for longer and important journeys. I hate the idea it would be left in the garage for months at a time

My Vanguard is not now for every day but certainly every day that the weather is suitable and not salt on the road. When I did use most days I paid the price of corrosion around the wheel arches. It is not always possible to clean off the debris and this gets caught on the wheel arch fold over lips. While mechanical parts are available body parts are not and fabricating and welding are expensive if you cannot do it yourself. Regards Ian.

I am a firm believer in running my classic cars at every opportunity; they are not sorned over the winter. Of course, when it is wet or the salt has built up after days of freezing weather, the cars stay tucked up. However, classics are great for shopping, errands and local visits (up to 20 miles away). A classic car is not depreciating and although it uses more fuel it is cheaper (depreciation, servicing costs, etc.) than taking out the modern day motor. Classic cars that are given regular excercise are more reliable: if a fault occurs is it attended to promptly. I am sure we all know of concours wonders that turn up at shows once or twice a year only to break down. I know of people who have £40,000 of metal, and sometimes this is a most conservative estimate, which put on a total of less than 500 miles (with 3 classic cars!) annually. Rant concluded, Robin.

Whem my estate gets finished it WILL be my daily driver !
I've simply had enough of being ripped off with exhorbitant road tax, insurance etc on my "modern" car.
That's why I'll be incorporating upgrades to cope with modern road conditions - disc brakes, decent heater [ and more important - demisting ], alternator, decent suspension, wheels and tyres. I'll certainly be looking at electric lift front windows, satnav [ discreetly placed ], decent sound system [ with period radio on display ].
OK - there'll always be the failsafe of my Wife's car - currently Celica GT, soon to be Mercedes SLK230.
