Change to Website Host. Over the next few weeks I will be moving the clubs website and emails to a new hosting company, as many of you are aware we have had problems with the clubs email system for sometime, this move should solve this problem, I have been using the new company both for my own websites and my customers for many years and have had no problems (famous last words). At the same time we are taking the opportunity to move our domain names to a new registrar who again I have used for many years with no problems. As you can imagine this is a major job making sure everything is moved in the correct order and with the minimum down time but inevitably there will be periods when the website will not be available or emails will not get through due to information having to propagate across the internet. One problem with changing our host is that after the change if you have saved the club website (www.standardmotorclub.org) to your favourites in your browser the link may not work, it is very easy to solve this just delete it from your favourites and then type www.standardmotorclub.org into your browser and when the page opens save it again to your favourites. I will try to give as much notice as possible if I know the website or email are likely to be unavailable, but things can go wrong so please bare with me if this should happen. The change to the website host will not affect the WebShop or forum if the website is not available you will still be able to access the WebShop directly from your browser by typing youraccount.ekmpowershop9.com/ekmps/shops/standardmotor/index.aspand the forum by typing standardclub.proboards.com/Richard Webmaster

The change over to the new web host will be on the 23 December, I was going to do it on the 24 but one of our domain registrars will not allow us to change the name servers ourselves, so to enure they have time to do it I have had to go for the 23. I can not give an exact time as it depends on when they move the nameservers and how long it takes to propergate across the internet.

I would prefer not to have the music playing on entering the site. Anyone agree.?
But thanks for your efforts in maintaining the SMC site.

The site has been succesfully transfered to the new host and appears to be working ok. The club email addresses still need testing but should be ok. Richard

The email addresses have all been tested and everything appears to be working, I have taken the oppertunity to rationalise some of the email addresses, a complete list will appear in the next magazine, in the mean time if an email address has changed you will receive an automatic message giving you the new email address. If you encounter any problems with the website or sending email to any of the club addresses please let me know at webmaster@standardmotorclub.org.uk
