Standard Motor Club - Cars at the Practical Classics Restoration and Classic Car Show - March 5th and 6th - NEC
We welcome Members and non-Members alike to visit us on our stand, Hall 6, Stand 245, to view the cars we have on display and meet our Volunteer organisers. Members are encouraged to take advantage of reduced price advance entry tickets by referring to the advert in the "Standard Car Review". Take a seat and rest your feet on our Stand and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
At a time when most Classic Car Clubs are suffering a decline in membership, the Standard Motor Club continues to grow from strength to strength. Membership now exceeds 1000 for the first time. You could be one of them.
Once again the Club shows a wide selection of vehicles from the diverse range of models that it represents. Our huge, centrally located stand will exhibit no fewer than 6 vehicles from 1926 to 1959.
1926 Standard SLO4 “Charlecote” Coupé
A vintage two-seater with thingyey, this Standard in fine working order. First restored in the early 1960’s, this vehicle is owned by Paul Newsome of Dunchurch
1930 Standard Avon 16 Sports Tourer
This car was designed by the young Jensen Brothers on the six-cylinder 16Hp chassis designed by Alfred Wilde. This car is a restoration project, owned by Steve Smeltzer of Bristol.
1935 Standard 12 Saloon Deluxe
A typical saloon from Standard’s period of enormous growth during the mid 1930’s. It is a restoration project, brought from Milton Keynes by its owner, Richard Hyde.
1946 Standard 14CD Saloon
Standard’s range in the immediate post-war period consisted of an 8, a 12 and this, the bodily identical 14. A superb example, this vehicle is owned by Peter Smith of Coventry.
1954 Standard Vanguard Pickup
Latest in a long line of Vanguard restorations by John Huckle of Bedford, the “yellow peril” is a recreation of an American style pickup truck.
1959 Standard Pennant
Standards final reworking of the 8/10 “Small Car” range was the Pennant. This original car is presented by Geoff Smith from Leamington.
The owners of the cars will be present to introduce their cars, answer questions and describe the benefits of membership of the Standard Motor Club
