Solex Carburettor Information for 30's and 40's Standards

A few people have contacted me for jetting (and other info) on Solex carburettors fitted to Standards in the 1930's and 40's.

Solex Description Leaflet for the 30AIP. This is effectively an earlier design of the FAI carb. The major difference as far as I can see is what in more modern parlance is an accelerator pump. This is vacuum operated by depression generated with a closed throttle, this "sucks" the diaphragm over compressing a spring. When the throttle is opened the vacuum goes and the spring pushes an extra "squirt" of petrol into the main airflow via a "speedjet" B. Although not described in the leaflet I believe it is possible if the diaphragm splits/deteriorates that it could cause running problems as the "speed jet" B can and does inject fuel at open throttle positions and the level a vacuum or otherwise may affect this. The later FAI carb does not have the "speed jet"
