Rear differential , 1949 Phase 1 Vanguard

Does anyone have any information on reliable rebuild engineers or where to buy a reconditioned diff by any chance? Mine has locked up, I suspect a thrown cog somewhere

Hi Mark. I don't have any experience in this, but the people over at the TR-Register think highly of Pete Cox & Son in Redditch. This is Pete Cox as in Cox & Buckles which is now called Moss. There's also Mike Papworth who is well regarded by the TSSC folk and also by Picton Sportscars. He supplied a mainshaft for my Spit gearbox at short notice, which Picton's rebuilt in time for my wedding (signature photo). Mike's in Coventry - no web site but here's his Facebook link.

Whilst they are well liked by others I have no personal experience of these people's rebuild work - and no financial interest either. Hope this might be some help.

Luckily I had a complete brand new back axle in the club stock, which Mark purchased and he says it works perfectly & his car is now back up & running.

Thanks all. Yes, Pete supplied me with a new one ex RAF and all is now good. While it was off I took the opportunity to re-temper the rear springs so the back end is now tip top!

Hi There’s a family run engineering business on the Wirral (north west England) who specialise in transmission and differential work. They come highly recommended by everybody who has used them including myself. Please let me know if want their details. Regards Frank
