I have acquired a Standard gearbox that is direct drive with just a straight thru shaft and a hand operated clutch lever. This box appears to be as built originally not a modified car gearbox. The casing is similar to a 1930,s car box. I wondered if anyone knew of any applications that Standard produced such a box for. I am assuming that it was built for a boat or a stationary machine such as a saw bench etc. Any ideas anyone? Regards,Steve (P.S. Dont ask me why I bought it because I dont know myself!!!)

Hi Steve.I know why you bought it. Like going to a clothes shop and seeing the 40" waist trousers at only £5 and getting them because they are a bargain. Not much use when you are a 34" waist though. As for the technical points in your question I will leave that to those that know. Regards Ian
