Nice item on the website on how to get to the Rally at Cirencester. Just out of interest, as my Kenilworth doesn't do motorways my route from Cornwall wil be A30 to Exeter then the old A38 to Taunton and go across the Somerset Levels to Glastonbury, thence to Shepton Mallet, Frome, Trowbridge and Chippenham. All reasonable roads, a few bits of dual carriageway but nothing to worry an 85- year old car. I think several of the Devon and Cornwall Group cars will be doing the same route. If anyone else would like to join en route they will be most welcome. Regards, Brian

As Lead Organiser of the event, it is perhaps appropriate for me to reply to this post.
I am not suggesting for one moment that you take your 1924 Kenilworth on the motorway, especially I don't take my 1913 Rhyl on the motorway. I would also think twice before taking the 1935 Ten on the motorway either.
To be fair to our hard working webmaster, he took this information from conference information supplied by the college.
I look forward to welcoming all Standard owners to Cirencester in June. If any owners of pre war cars want advice on suitable roads to take their cars on, then please don't hesitate to contact me.

I too will be coming to the National via back roads already planned.
Escort car will be an Astra probably hopefully with a trailer attached for security only.
I intend to video my journey and the event.

I wasn't intending to upset the applecart !!. Those with newer Standards or those capable of keeping up with motorway speeds, or even those on trailers travelling long distances, motorways are ideal. I was just trying to point out that with a little planning, our country roads are still available to us to cover the route. Regards, Brian

I dont think you upset the applecart
Anybody readng this forum probably either has sat nav or google map facility. Both these can be set to avoid motorways
There will be a few who will journey on the motorways no doubt.
The main thing is come to the national by Standard, modern car, motor Bike tractor even....[glow=red,2,300]BUT COME[/glow]

Wow! So now I know an easy way to get comments on the forum! -just suggest using a Motorway to get to Cirencester.
Fortunately the page was only 1/2 a day old and I have already changed it to show routes from all over the place using just A and B roads. Now I suppose I will get complaints for not giving routes from the Netherlands, Flanders or Switzerland for instance - it is an International Rally after all.
Thanks for the "convoy" offer, Brian, it was something I tried to encourage last year with limited success. If anyone else wants to contact me directly I will publish all the routes on the website.
Thanks, Phil

[glow=red,2,300] It would be great if several convoys could rendezvous before arriving at the National even for a few last miles. Any ideas anyone? ?? [/glow] if you are coming from anywhere in the South/South West please let me have your proposed route thanks

[glow=red,2,300] [glow=red,2,300]I have been asked to remind groups that they should leave gaps between cars so as not to impede the other road users[/glow] [/glow]

I will agree with that Darrell, when the local A7 Club go out there is normally a maximum of five cars in each group, all spaced out to avoid upsetting other road users. Each group of five normally have a route card, should anyone get lost. Regards, Brian
