I'm trying to contact Reg Preston. Reg kindly lent me a spark plug for my Vignale Vanguard at the rally. I don't have any contact details so if you reading this Reg, or if someone can let Reg know, if you can let me know your contact details I would like to replace the plug. My E-Mail is: apkingston@ntlworld.com
Thanks for your help Reg, and also Roger (5647 F)and wife (sorry, I didn't get your name), and pne or two others, for your interest and support.
Regards, Alan

Hi Alan, It was actually Reg Johnson. Tel 01206 825613. Did you get through the weekend without further problems and did you get the fanbelt sorted. Good to see you there . Regards Ian.

Thanks for the info Ian. Yes, we got home safely on Sunday thank you.
The weekend was certainly a good test run for the car; it probably covered more miles that weekend than it has for the last ten years. The car did present certain (fortunately fairly minor) challenges, which I'm glad to say we overcame. We had overheating problems-I removed the thermostat in a Cambridge side-street on Friday night whilst attempting to follow the road run. The insufficient fan belt adjustment was temporarily solved by a bit of wood! The mis-firing was cured by Reg Johnson's spark plug, combined with screwing the plug caps more securely onto the leads. The exhaust blowing will be cured by a replacement system. We were losing a little water from the cooling system-observation of the temperature gauge and stops every 30 miles or so to top up made that manageable.
It probably sounds like a bit of a disaster but it was all useful experience and has given me a more intimate knowledge of the car. The car actually performed well with good oil pressure and no serious problems. Apart from the cost of a stainless steel exhaust system it shouldn't cost a great deal to sort the car out. I do have a list of jobs to carry out when I have the time. At least with the car not being my daily transport I can take my time.
Regards, Alan

Hi Alan, Just a cautionary note. If you buy a stainless system ensure it is the thicker steel (as are the Club ones) or you will have a noisy one like Reg Johnson. If you want to order a Club one then I will arrange. Regards Ian.

Good advice Ian. M "V3" one is not very thick and is quite noisy, and annoys me a lot. Tina
