Well we are back after a enjoyable 4 days cruising the lanes, and some main roads around Clacton and Colchester without any major hicups. A few adjustments needed to a steering box and a carb but that was on the oldest of cars (1934 and 1937). The worst thing I had was showers of bird mess each day, I think they aimed at me because I was in a Triumph. (sort of decoy) Plenty of compliments and interest wherever we went, even the nightingales sang to us, and I thought they only did that in Berkeley Square. In one particular stopping point, the Museum of Power (quite appropriate for our cars) one man was so impressed that he called the display we made his own classic car show, he was tickled pink. A lot of the conversation on this forum is about gremlins in the mechanics, well to lighten the matter we had loads of gnomes and elves over the weekend, and we had one 10 year old boy who excelled us all and counted 1074 0f them in a wooded area. So what is this to do with Standards? Firstly letting them be seen in unusual places. Secondly having fun. Thirdly encouraging the youngsters to have fun and interest in our older Standards. Next large event Standard Triumph Day at Duxford. Regards Ian.
