Hello to all, new poster here. I've just completed a deal to buy a 1956 Vanguard. It has sat derelict in the grounds of a private museum for at least ten years, but remains in fairly solid condition with the passenger rocker panel and driver's floorpan having some rust issues. It's complete except for taillight lenses and hubcaps.
My classic car background to date has been mostly in Studebakers and Ramblers, though I have owned a couple of TR7s over the years as well. I thought restoring the Vanguard would be an interesting challenge, and provide me with a unique way to enjoy '50s motoring.
I'm looking forward to reading the postings here and hopefully learning more about the history of Standards as well as gleaning those all important restoration tips.
I'd also be happy to show a couple of photos if someone can tell me how to go about adding them.

Hi Dougie,
Send them as email attachments with the story of the car to webmaster@standardmotorclub.org.uk and I will feature the Vanguard on the website.
Congratulations on your purchase and good luck with the restoration.
Regards, Phil
