I am looking commision series information for the Triumph TR10. Also, a resource to help explain the specifics (i.e. color, trim, etc) from the numbers on my cars. I suspect the commision number or other data on the plaques are similar to other cars of the time (i.e. TR3) - which do not give color/trim info. Is British Motor Heritage the only source? Lastly, a good source for someone who has documented restoring the TR10 Estate Wagon Thank you, bnbnash

Unfortunately, there really isn't any data re: interior and trim to be gleaned from any of the numbers on your 10. Beyond that, though, I can probably tell you something based on your numbers. And I do have factory literature that might help as well.
I'm guessing you are in North America, since you specifically refer to a Triumph. I maintain a "database" web site with lists of 10 sedans and wagons extant in North America (along with Heralds, Sports 6s and other "family cars"), and I have lots of contacts with fellow owners. Additionally, I can put you in touch with someone who indeed has just finished (I think it's finished, anyway) a very comprehensive restoration of an Estate Wagon. Feel free to contact me via e-mail at <herald1200@aol.com> (hope it's ok to say that here)!
My site is <http://triumph-herald.us>.

Hey, thanks for your reply....Yes, I am N. America (California). I have read about the "Re-naming" of the Standard for the U.S. market...which was familiarized with Triumphs. I also saw the commission number info on this website....the only info anywhere I've seen. The numbers on the two estate wagons I have are "TBE" prefix, with the T meaning "Triumph" I presume. The number sequences do not seem to be consistant with the "BE" cars as mine by these numbers should be 55 and 57 models, but are 59 and 61 as registered. I will contact you with more questions! Thanks also for the restoration info.... bnbnash

Here are the numbers: TBE36641LSC and TBE55502LSC....I may have been off with some of those dates in the earlier reply. bnbnash

Here are the numbers: TBE36641LSC and TBE55502LSC....I may have been off with some of those dates in the earlier reply. bnbnash You are correct in these numbers not being consistent with the "BE" numbered Standards. TBE36641LSC likely would be a 1959 model year wagon, and TBE55502LSC a 1960 model year wagon. That latter car also probably will have the "Pennant style" front end sheetmetal; both cars likely will have the blue and white Triumph 10 badge. Best as I can tell, the Triumph 10 models in the US ran roughly TBE1 - TBE9xxx for the 1958 model year, TBE 35001 and future for 1959 and TBE 50001 and future (or possibly TBE 55001 and future) for 1960, those 1960 models being wagons only, as the Triumph Herald had replaced the 10 sedans by then.

You are correct - the 55502 car has the later style front end. This info you wrote is very helpful...I will be in touch later.....thanks!

Hi Bob. I have access to the original build records for Standard Cars 1949 to early 1961, the records provide actual build date & details such as body & trim details. See page 13 Standard Car Review August 2007 edition.

Hi Bob. The original build records are held by another Standard related organisation, but for a small fee (£3.50) they will supply me with a record of build date, original colour/trim etc for a particular vehicle.
