I have recently found an 'auto archaeologist' who researches underbonet decals on all classic cars. These he will then faithfully reproduce them and sell them at a very reasonable cost. Currently he holds no info for the Standard 8/10. Having just restored my Eight,I now need to add the 'bling' to my engine bay. Sadly I have no decals left on any underbonnet components and would like anybody who has any information/pictures on the subject to email them to me. For starters there is a rectangular decal in orange mounted on the black Smiths heater box, another on the Tudor washer bottle, air cleaner case and oil filler cap etc etc. Any pics would be great. Maybe if I can get enough members interested a deal could be struck for a quantity of these. Any thoughts?? Merry Xmas to all members! Kevin. (Standard 8 (901 UXM).

Perhaps Mike Wilkes will see this message and may have the decals on his car to photo and get reproduced. Anyone else who can help with the finishing touches to an engine bay?. Regards Ian.

Not the engine bay, but hidden behind the driver's door on the 'A' post of my '55 10 is a sticker "3M Underseal guaranteed for the life of this car". Can photograph it if anyone's interested.
I did think about sending 3M the bill for the welding...

Thanks for your reply Phil, Any sticker/decal info is great. Maybe the underseal sticker could be reproduced for novelty value? Not sure about the guarantee though. It didn't say anything about the metal the underseal is painted on,just the underseal itself. Clever!!!! I'd like a piccie of it all the same. Regards, Kevin.

AS a point of interest 3M are the makers of scotch tape so perhaps it meant that the parts were stuck together with 3M tape. Ian

Not being very familiar,or indeed an avid fan of the Standard motor vehicle,I would say that from what I've seen of the build quality of my Standard, the whole thing is held together with 3m Scotch tape!!!! I built better go-carts as a child!! He! He! ( only joking--Honest ).
