Just got back from day 2 of the show it has been very busy on the stand with a lot of interest in our cars, the number of people who either remember owning one or there parents owning one. We have also had people joining the club at the show. Sales of regalia items has been excellent. Tomorrow is the last day so if you can make it it is well worth a visit, and don't forget to visit us on stand 10-235 and have a complimentary cup of tea or coffee. Richard

Another very satisfying NEC show with an excellent selection of much admired cars and many willing volunteers to chat, share technical advice and keep the hot water boiler topped up for coffee and tea. I've just finished the last of the post NEC admin: hire van and borrowed display boards are returned and I'm just sitting down to a cheeky glass of wine even though it's a school night!
I'm not the only one who genuinely enjoys chatting to members and the general public and I'm always pleased to listen to reminiscences and anecdotes. Helping out on the club stand never feels like a chore, but it wouldn't be possible without all the support of the other volunteers. Many, many thanks to all the car owners for providing their vehicles - with especial thanks to Pete Foster who stepped in at the last minute with his fabulous condition and rare 1963 Ensign Deluxe Estate. Thanks to Pete,we were able to reunite examples of the oldest and youngest cars in the club for the NEC - our theme for this year.
Thank you to all the helpers on the stand, it was good to see some new faces this year. Volunteer of the weekend was Richard Hyde who not only commuted from Leighton Buzzard every day, but also spent the most time on the stand of any volunteer with just the occasional comfort break. The regalia stand was beautifully presented I'm looking forward to the arrival of my new club fleece.
We wish Mike Wilkes a speedy recovery after being struck down with Pleurisy mid show. He and I will be getting our heads together shortly to prepare for next year. We already have some ideas!
If you would like to help or lend your car for the NEC, please do let us know. We want a good selection of cars and members every year to represent the true club experience. You don't need to be a technical expert nor experienced classic owner, and your car doesn't need to be a rare example. The point of the NEC is to welcome everyone who has an interest in Standards.

Seen on the Standard Motor Club stand at the recent NEC Classic Motor Show were two young ladies Lucy & Clare promoting the involvement of Standard Cars in the 2014 London to Brighton Run organised by GE CLASSIC MOTOR EVENTS www.classicmotorevents.co.uk .A 1939 Standard Flying 8 Tourer has already booked in to celebrate being 75 years old and helping raise funds for Charity.
