Hi All,
There's a New Years Day Gathering at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge. Any pre-1973 classic car is welcome and I'm hoping that Delilah Standard 8 will finally be returned from the garage so that we can attend. It was one of the largest gatherings of classic cars last year so hopefully will be just as good for 2014. It would be great to see some more Standards attending this event is you're not too hung over from the new years festivities!

BUT As I never paid for the car, its not mine to do owt with, or have an opinion on, imagine that... At least you saved it from the scrap man though...

If your wiring is in order I'd expect the headlights to work ok. Are the headlights inherently poor on these cars? If so I can understand your apprehension. Steve

Does my excuse of not having Bertie on the road yet and also being 125 miles away count?
Sorry Steve, Maybe next year. Oh, just a minute that is next year isn't it!!

Does my excuse of not having Bertie on the road yet and also being 125 miles away count? Sorry Steve, Maybe next year. Oh, just a minute that is next year isn't it!! Mark I can't criticise others, my car has been off the road (for too long) whilst I do restorations. The bodywork has been left until last, I hope to get that done next year. I keep finding more time and money needing to be spent on the crossmember but it is nearly completed. I am getting new shims and gaskets for the steering box and I am making new brackets for the shock absorber bottom fixings. An anti roll bar just awaits me sorting the fixings which I have worked a plan for. It all takes time and money. The 12/50 engine (uprated to 60bhp) is being reassembled. With a Piper fast road cam I opted for double valve springs so fitted later collet type valves which suit the mod. My Ten engine broke a valve spring which caused a valve seat to be slightly chipped, so thats more the reason for fitting double springs, otherwise there's provably little advantage. The gearbox is ready with a diaphragm clutch. Next I will be looking at reconditioning the rear axle. Getting there! Steve

Off course there is always another way to join in and that's to come along in a modern, there's plenty of free parking onsite and you still get to see some great cars!!

Aha! now thats a flim-flam. You've changed tack from directly taking part to spectating. Ha!
Believe me, I would if I thought I could. Hope it goes really well. Mark

Ah, that's very true, but then Delilah is still in the garage (7 weeks now!) and I've just been asked to get the rubber section to reconnect the filler pipe to the tank today, so I might have to take the modern and become a spectator!
