I had planned to garage my 1958 10 over the winter, but have had to change my plans. It will therefore sit in the road come rain or shine. And my money is on rain. So ...
1. Any advice/tips - things to look out for, extra care/maintenance? 2. I will be buying a cover - any recommendations on brand/type?
Cheers,
Matthew

Hi Matthew. Do you actually mean in the road? Some councils do not like cars parked in the road with a cover over as it makes it look permanent and they may want to sweep the road, clear the drains, repair the surface etc. Also kids may be curious and damage or remove the cover.Be aware.
If you are not going to use it at all; Pump up tyres to 4lb higher than handbook. This will stop flat spots where parked. Coat all chrome with petroleum jelly. Can get a big tub from shops at about 79p instead of brand name Vaseline which is 5 times the price. As predictions are for a cold winter check anti freeze and top up. Remove battery and keep in warm place. Take plugs out and pour a small amount of oil into each plug hole to lubricate the bores. Put plugs back in loosely ready to do the same before restarting in Spring.
Under a cover a big enemy is condensation after a frosty night and then sun on it in the day. This can cause mildew on the interior. Also with wind the cover can scratch the paintwork so a cotton type lining will help.
Is it not possible to find a garage nearby to keep it in, perhaps a little old lady living alone with no car in the garage may help. Regards Ian.
