hi eveyone i'm a newbie on here, i joined because i know of a standard vanguard that needs rescuing if anyone is interested, it would need a total resto job. i'm not really into standards as such so i'm not even sure what model it is, all i know is it's an estate model reg number is UTL 311. it was owned by the brother of a friend of mine, both of whom are sadly now deceased. my friends brother died first and when he died the car was driven into a barn and has been there for a number of years, it was complete and untouched but unfortunately some little hooligans broke in to the barn and smashed all the cars windows. it has also rusted a fair bit in recent years. i dont know if anyone on here would be interested in it, it would need an awful lot of work or could be used as spare parts, it is a shame because it only had 77, 656 miles on the clock when put into the barn. i'm not sure how fanatical you guys are about saving these cars, i'm more into mini's and do everything i can to save as many mini's as possible as theylike a lot of classic cars are irreplaceable. i can obtain photo's for anyone interested but unfortunately i cant send them via email but i'd be perfectly willing to post them to anyone interested.

Hi. Good of you to take the trouble to contact us. The estate are pretty rare. It is probably 1950's with that number. Any photos would be a great help and the location as we may have someone local who could accompany you to see it. Could you please send an email to regalia@standardmotorclub.org.uk and I will reply direct with my address. Many thanks Ian,

Regarding the Vanguard. Broken windows are not the end of the world, difficult maybe, but if the rest of the car was driven into storage it must be reasonably complete, so don't even think of scrapping it until someone can look at it. Even then it would produce many good spare parts. Although in that condition they are notworth more than scrap value but for someone looking for hard to find bits it would be a god send. If it is a beetleback one it is a phase 1, and if like it with a boot it will be a phase 2, and if it is the flatter one with no chassis it is a phase 3. Where in the country are you? Contact our Vanguard spares officer Paul Robins, on paulrobins@citigroup.com to discuss the matter. Tina
