I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the Webmaster's remarks regarding the speed at which I led the run to Bournemouth.
I don't know if my speedo reads slow, but I thought I drove at about 30-35 mph, which even in sleepy Dorset is considered 'steady'.
I did ensure our friends from Switzerland and Belgium were always visible in my rear-view mirror.
Perhaps I got carried away by the power of the mighty 1009cc side valve engine. I must say, it's rather flattering to think my 8 Tourer is capable of a 'cracking pace'.
I would like to thank all those involved in the organising and running of the Rally weekend. It was great fun, and I'm hoping to attend next year's. At the speeds I drive, it shouldn't take me long to get to Cambridge, should it?
Yours swiftly, Alan Kingston.

If my speedo were working we would have been doing a "steady" 55mph on the dual carriageway. That's the speed the inherent vibration in the Flying 12 sets in! I'm not complaining, just impressed by what a 46 Standard 8 can do!
You are right - its only a couple of hours at that speed to Cambridge Alan, so see you there, I hope! Im busy tuning the car or bringing something quicker!
Slow regards,
Phil

If you visit the 'Photo file' page (http://www.ccotp.co.uk/page5.html) of the Bournemouth Classic Cars on the Prom web-site you will find pictures of some of the cars that participated in the Bournemouth Road Run. Unfortunately, you can only view thumbnails at the moment.

Hi Alan. Sorry I could not join you on the Bournemouth run. I was dashing to get the Regalia packed away but you had all gone. Anyway glad to hear you intend to come to Cambridge. Spread the word around to non members with Standards also, we would like to see them and perhaps that will give them the incentive to join. We are working on the International now and will have a few surprises, and no need to go above 30mph. There are no hills here also so on the roadrun the last car should be able to see the first car. Best wishes Ian.
