I have had a chat with the car secretary of the West of England Steam & Vintage Rally and he has agreed to reserve a plot specifically for all marques of Standards, and has also agreed for me to put my (large) caravan on the plot for the benefit of Standard owners for refreshments and shelter as required, we may end up along side the Austin 7 owners club. If you would like to attend this show, then let either Brian Murrish or myself know as soon as possible, then we can get official entry forms out to you, you cannot just turn up at this show on the weekend. For those who have not been to this show, it is a three day event and the biggest show in the south west, they have free camping facilities with entertainment from modern music to olde tyme musicals, large catering facilities as well as other facilities you expect to see at these shows, as well as a well stocked shop that sells just about any thing including gas, they also have toilets that are actually cleaned several times a day! The show is on Friday 17th August to Sunday 19th August with camping from the previous Tuesday. I dont know who has the Standard Banner can someone let me know please? any chance of putting this in the Parish Magazine please?

I will put this additional detail in the Events listing webpage, but if you want it in the magazine then you better email the Editor, because I'm not sure he reads this - not many do!
Banners are provided on an area group basis - if you want one, please email the Teasurer as she is dealing with banners for two other areas presently
Regards
Phil

Bob Richardson has various banners etc. on behalf of the Bristol group. If you wish to use any of them I can deliver them to the club stand at Powderham as I have got an autojumble stand booked there. If you want me to do this, I should see Bob this coming Monday, if you make arrangements with him I can collect them then.Any later would involve making a special trip to pick them up. Hope this is of help. Kind regards,Steve

Sorry I have been late in joining this thread but I have been on holiday! A great idea by Doris, and a coup to persuade the event to have another caravan on the area to provide a hospitality area. Last year we availed ourselves of the Cornwall Austin Seven Club's hospitality. Mind you we had a lovely view of their record attempt to build up a A7 engine from component parts and get it running on a test bench in the record time of 35 minutes . Any Standard owners want to equal that record? This year they will be doing something different! I will be only too willing to bring the SMC banner back from Powderham in July. As far as entries are concerned I have sent entry forms to all those who have expressed an interest to me but would suggest that anyone extra be quick in contacting Alan Hollis at Avallon, 25a Enys Road, Camborne, TR14 8TN as their closing date for entries is 7 July.

As I have not heard anything I assume that you do not need me to pick a banner up from Bob anymore. Please confirm as time is running short and I have a lot of work to do before the weekend. Regards,Steve

Hi Steve, I thougt from doris' comments on 14.6.06 he was going to make arrangements with you to collect the banner; apparently this hasn't happened. I would only be too pleased to collect it from Powderham. Is it too late for you to call on Bob, and therefore get it to Powderham? Kind Regards, Brian

Many apologies for the above, circumstances over took me for a while and now catching up with things, many thanks to Brian for collecting the banners, do we know how many "Standards" will be attending so we can complete arrangements?

Hi there, It was too late for Steve to collect the banner himself from Bob but I did hear a whisper that Bob will be attending Powderham in his modern. I will phone him tonight to confirn this. I will certainly bring it westwards if Bob can get it to Powderham. If all else fails we still have the display board that we borrowed last year. As far as numbers are concerned it may be a good idea to contact the car secretary of the WESES after their closing date. Regards, Brian

Hi there, I tried to phone Bob tonight without success. I have contacted Chris Bowden though and he already has the banner at Exeter for us to use at Powderham and West of England. No worries! Don't forget to come and see us at Powderham even if you haven't got your Standard on the road, bring your modern and meet us friendly Devon and Cornwall boys and girls!.
Regards, Brian
