:DI have been asked and accepted the position of Car Secretary at this years West Of England Steam Engine Society Rally nr St Agnes just of the A30 about three miles south of the City of Truro.
This years Rally will be on Friday August 15th to Sunday 17th, with camping facilities (free) available for a week leading up to the show. free evening entertainment for all tastes and ages, including all the fun of the vintage steam driven fair. The Camp site is a short walk from the main Rally area for peaceful contemplation.
This show is the biggest of its kind this side of Blandford and can take a long time to see everything on offer with something for Him & Her!
Last year we had five Standards dating from the twenties through to the fifties on display, and would love to see more this year!
My caravan will be used (1) for Lyn and I to live in, (2) as Car Section HQ and (3) Hospitality Caravan for the Standard Car Stand!
You have plenty of time to book a place and have a holiday to boot!

Hi Pete, Great news, now is the time to also book your B and B accomodation if you don't want to camp. I know the weather wasn't too good last year but this year we have organised better weather. Make sure we are next to the Cornwall Austin Seven Club again and we can "wind them up" again, Pete. Regards to all, Brian

Entries for this rally are coming in well, BUT, at the moment I only have two Standard entries, one is mine for the 1930 16 Ensign and the other is Brians very nice V3 Kenilworth. I do have a limit on how many cars we can accept, once this limit is reached then no more can be accepted, we had five or six cars last year so get the entries in. You can contact me on peterandlyn@hotmail.co.uk Pete

Standard entries are now into double figures. It is too late to enter your vehicle now but if you are a member or even a person just interested in the Standard marque, call at our stand and have a chat. We will be situated near to the public pedestrian entrance and of course we shall be flying the Standard flag. Hope to see you there. Brian

Yes Brian we will be there, the middle weekend of our two week holiday. Will there be a presence on the Friday for us to join?
We will be in the the Flying 12 DHC, it is back on the road now with a new "seconduser" differential.
Though the Club spares did have a new crownwheel and pinion set , I won't tell you why I couldn't fit it just here, but, if you ask me at the West of England Steam Show, I will bore you with the reasons!
Looking forward to it now the weather has bucked up!
Regards, Phil and Lynda

Looking forward to seeing you there, I am booking the room for the Saturday night meal and those numbers are in double figures too. We may be able to fit in a small road run between the closure of the event and our mealtime. And yes the Group will be in attendance for the full three days. The new gazebo is on order and teas/coffees should we available in our hospitality area!! Regards, Brian

Count us in for the meal and the roadrun.
Unfortunately, we shall have to leave early on Sunday to get to our next event in mid-Wales by Monday evening. Regards, Phil

Regret to inform you that we have had to cancel the Rally because the ground is saturated with more heavy rain to come.
The only people who enjoy this sort of weather are the tractor owners who love nothing more than dragging out sinking cars!
Watch this space for any further news .
