Darrell,
You being a prewar 8 man and the fact that there is a big meeting coming up for the 70th birthday (which I'm very sorry that I cannot attend) .... can I set you a task.....
With all the Standard 8 tourers that will be on display can you take a full roll of memory on digital camera and capture all the hidden elements of these cars. We all know what the outside of the cars look like (front, back, side etc.) but what we do not see are the insides and the finer details.
For all the cars there take shots of the engines from both sides, the dashboard, the tool kit storage behind the back seat, the tools, the hood assemble and fixing, the side screens and how the hood looks when flat and when in place.
If this information can then be captured onto a CD, then I for one would be willing to pay for it and it will also be a refererence for the club.
We all restore our cars but it is difficult to identify what is original. With this series of photo's it should be possible to identify exactly what the original details were.
This may be a task that you can send out to all who will be attending and they could provide these photo's of their car on the day.
It would be a pity to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to capture the details of the Flying Standard 8.... saloon, DHC and Tourer.
Regards and thanks, Pat

Hi, Why stop there. This can be done for all models as and when they come together. The International Rally would be a good example and could be a task for several people to carry out on the day. Regards Ian.

Regards Ian. Well, for the 50s 10 you'll have to wait until I get BE790DL restored, unless you can find another from the first 2650...

This will be an on going task for us all but well worth it. It would be a slice of history for future generationsand finally enable the name STANDARD to be known. I Think an article in the Magazine would help so I will talk to the editor etc about this .....Thanks
