Hello all, Just a preliminary notice to all members and interested owners with Standards that our Group has arranged a day at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway for Sunday 31 August. All of us participants will need to be there for 10.30am as we have arranged for reserved seats to be available on the steam train which leaves Bodmin General station at 11.10am. Riding on the train is optional of course and the fare will be discounted if enough participants come along. We will have a reserved slot in the car park to display our vehicles so we need a firm number of cars nearer the date so that the right area can be marked out. If you have not got your Standard on the road you can still come along and join us in your modern but your car will have to go in the general parking area. We may be able to get a guided tour of the workshops there but these "extras" to our day will be sorted out closer to the time. There is a nice buffet on the station plus snacks on the train. More details will appear on the main website and in the Standard Review nearer the date. In the meantime put a note in your diary and give me ring on 01872-560477 if you want to commit yoursef NOW to this GRAND DAY OUT. Kind regards Brian

It is still not too late to book for the Devon and Cornwall Group's visit to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway on Sunday 31 August. We meet at the station car park just 1/4 mile from the centre of Bodmin town centre at 10.30 a.m. If you wish to ride on the train the fare will be less than £10, how much less will depend on the number of participants. Have your £10 ready when you arrive and I will be buying a group ticket with the proceeds and refunding you the appropriate amount. The infrastructure of the railway is centred around a 1950's Western region branch line with mainly ex-Great Western tank locomotives. There are buffet facilities on the train and at Bodmin station itself. We have already got Standards from the 1920's, 1930's, 1940's and 1950's attending and one or two Triumphs could be putting in appearances too. If you don't have a Standard or Triumph on the road, bring your modern and although you will have to park in the visitor car park, you will be most welcome to join us on the train trip. Make sure you make yourselves known to me at 10.30 a.m on the day. We also hope to have a conducted tour of the workshop facilities later in the day, Please get in touch if you intend joining us so that I can get some ideas of numbers, especially if you are displaying your Standard or Triumph so that I know what area I will need for our display. Please phone me one evening on 01872-560477 or email hawksworh147@talktalk.net if you are coming. Can our Publicity Officer work his magic to promote our event please? KInd regards from a "now drying-out" Devon and Cornwall. Brian Murrish

Further to my last message, we did not see any "magic" so we were left to our own devices. Even though the weather forecast was not that good and several of the participants left their homes in rain or drove though some, when we got to Bodmin it was dry and apart from a drizzly shower while we were enjoying lunch it was a lovely dry but overcast day. The website will shortly bear a report with some photographs, but in the meantime you wil be interested to know that all who went had a whale of a time, some even managed a footplate ride on 5552 a 2-6-2 tank engine. We had an exclusive tour of the workshops which the general public do not get full access to. My Kenilworth was glad to get back on the road and performed faultlessly, unfortunately Colin Fry had a mishap with his car en route so couldn't turn up but I would like to know where the members were who had expressed an interest in coming, but did not show up on the day. They missed a good time. Regards, Brian
