I notice that they have put out a request for entries into the "unrestored (survivors) display" which could prove very interesting..

Does that refer to the cars or their owners?

Yes, very entertaining display and a superb day out. Its a little further north than most organised events so I hope "locals" will give it some support Hope to see both you and your car there.

A number of Club cars have already booked, via the TR Register, as described in the advert. The Club have been allocated a display area where Standards can park altogether. So, standardlincoln, we look forward to seeing you there.
Please confirm? Regards, Phil

Sorry I cannot make it this year. It was a good day last year with a '57 Eight, a '56 Ten, Peter's Dorretti and that lovely 1926 Charlecote. Hope it gets even more support this year

Regards, Phil This thread mentioned nothing about a club display I've took it upon my self to contact my local triumph group and will probably display with them now unless my plans change or if the club doesn't have any space left as I need to send a copy of public liabilty which I don't yet have

I'm constantly bemused about this 'public liability' thing. to show your car at a static event it needs to be covered by UK road standards.
I cannot for the life of me see why our cars need such insurance which would only go to mitigate the show organiser from their own responsibility in that respect.
The only time I could see such insurance being required is if you posed a potential risk to the public. simply displaying a car for them to gaze at does not actually come in to this realm.
There have been discussions on this point on this forum previously. I have just put in an entry form for a show that asked for PL. On the application I noted to them that the display of a car does not warrant it. They acknowledged by confirming my request to attend. It seems the PL requirement is placed in the majority of show applications to cover businesses that wish to exhibit a stall, and is by 'accident' included in the show application for classic cars. The cost of such insurance is prohibited by its cost to the average classic car owner.
Having said all that, I have contacted my own insurance company and been advised they would need to be notified on each and every occasion I wished to display to agree such cover. and if they felt it was 'too often' the premium would potentially rise significantly.

All cars and owners on the SMC stand are covered by the Club's public liability insurance. You are welcome to join in, if you wish, as it would be good to have all the Standards together Please note that the marque day is only Sunday. If you have a potential Survivors exhibit, and wish it to enter that competition, then the organiser's, the TR Register have asked for the cars to be present on both days.

I agree mark its not your responsibility to provide a PL insurance its for Traders at shows not Entrants. I show my bikes etc. at shows and have Never been asked for PL Insurance or Road Insurance so if an Event is asking then I would have to Question Why.

I think that sort of indicates my point Phil (webmaster). The prime exhibitor provides the PL. Not the individual car drivers who need to ensure their cars are properly roadworthy.
Wish I could be there, but alas no. Mind you it was a great day out last year in Malvern. I'd definitely recommend it.
Now thats funny. My 'muter suggests the word "individual" should be spelt "Indvidual". Must be a foreign make!!!

Mark,
The Club carries £5m PL insurance. If the event is registered with the Club's Secretary, then it is covered by this insurance, then there is no need for any individuals to have their own PL insurance. The STMD is such an event, as is every other Standard event advertised in the standard Car Review or on the Official SMC website.
Hope this clarifies the situation Phil

Not sure its quite that simple Phil.
I asked about registration for the recent Gemini Weston Pk event and was told the club didn't intend to have a stand so would not cover. Didn't matter in the end . I still went. with another club
